General Information
The Ruins of Geda are about 9 km from Watamu, about 45 minutes by taxi from the hotel, and are one of the main attractions for the destination and for all those who want to intersperse with their history their relaxing poolside holiday. The ruins of Gede are one of the few historical sites in Kenya and arise in the village of Gede, not far from the better known Watamu.
Main Attractions
Dating back between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries, are the remains of the Arab city of merchants Gedi, which had a population of over 2500 people. The town, immersed in the dense protection of the Arabuko Sokoke, was linked by two walls that separated the bourgeois class from the common citizens.
